Mark Peter Wright
Sound Artist

Mark Peter Wright is a long-term collaborator with Helena Hunter. In 2009 Wright was awarded British Composer of the Year in Sonic Arts for his work A Quiet Reverie.

Wright holds a post-graduate masters degree in sound arts and is also editor of Ear Room, an online publication for developing critical discourse on the use of sound in artistic practice.

Wright has produced installation works, performance, film and music for the Queen Elizabeth Hall, IMT Gallery, Futuresonic Festival, Future Cinema, and Positive Soundscapes. His work has been released on labels in Europe and North America and has been played on BBC Radio 3, Resonance FM and Art Radio FM. Wright also delivers workshops and lectures regularly.

Helena Hunter has collaborated with Manuel Vason on a number of projects including the SPILL Tarot Project, The Live Art Development Agency 10 minutes for 10 years photo and a series of performative images for Hunter’s new work dis-locate.

Manuel Vason is now widely considered to be one of the world’s foremost performance photographers.  Born and educated in Italy, he moved to London and whilst assisting some of the most highly regarded photographers in the fashion industry he started the project Exposure a publication on Live Performance Art (Black Dog Publishing, 2001). Since 1999 his work has been published on L'Uomo Vogue, ID, Dazed and Confused, Flash Art, Frieze, Contemporary, Tate Magazine and exhibited at Tate Liverpool, ICA London,  Whitechapel Gallery London Tramway Gallery Glasgow, Arnolfini Gallery Bristol, VB Museum (Finland), Museo delle Papesse (Italy).

Natasha Davis: Artist & Producer

Natasha Davis is working with Helena Hunter as a producer for her new work dis-locate. Davis has managed a portfolio of established performance practitioners and developed a sizable portfolio of experimental work at the Arts Council London. At the British Council Davis developed projects in Western Europe, South America, Australia and New Zealand. She opened & co-coordinated a British Council centre in the Syrian desert and produced a large-scale project for the Ministry of Culture and Education in Tokyo. Davis currently produces Marisa Carnesky, Julia Bardsley, Russell Barr and Bob Karper, in addition to developing and producing her own work.

Davis’ performance practice revolves around the body as a cultural signifier; her work is process-led and involves rigorous investigation & interpretation of personal histories. Her recent solo work Rupture was performed at SPILL Festival National Platform and the Sprint Festival 2009. She has also devised & performed in Pacitti Company’s Finale in Rome and recently in Nurse Knows Best - Sheila Ghelani’s new performance for Gay Shame at Brixton Academy London. She worked as a dramaturge on Carnesky’s Ghost Train and co-wrote the Book of the Disappeared.

chiara ambrosio  

Chiara Ambrosio
Filmmaker and Photographer

Chiara Ambrosio collaborated with Helena Hunter on Tracing Shadows and Myths and Metamorphosis.

Ambrosio’s work explores ideas of memory, loss and illusion through film, animation, photography and video installation. Her most recent film Charon was produced by Michael Nyman, who also composed the musical score for the film; the sound was designed by Mark Peter Wright. Charon has been screened at Fantasia Festival-Montreal USA, Leeds Film Festival, Cambridge Film Festival, Tender Pixel Gallery-London, and Tate Britain-London.

Chiara also works as a freelance music video/documentary director and commercial photographer. Projects have included photography for Patrick Wolf music videos for Transgressive Records, Dim-mak Records, Southern Fried Records, Saatchi & Saatchi and Fire records. She has directed documentaries for Kensington Palace, Bexley Arts Council and Rose Bruford College, and has produced shadow animations for Sadler’s Wells Theatre.

Chiara also curates and runs The Light and Shadow Salon a place for moving image and ideas.
